Susan Hataway is an artist from Raymond locally known for her watercolors of classic Raymond scenes. She also enjoys capturing rural southern landscapes, buildings and animals in both watercolor and oils.

In recent years, Susan has been one of the featured artists during the "Meet the Artist" art extravaganza sponsored by the Friends of the Raymond Library. She also painted and contributed a watercolor of the old Oak Tree Hotel to the Friends of Raymond, who sold signed prints of the painting as a fundraiser. The hotel once stood in the heart of Raymond prior to the civil war. Recently, she has done several commission works including building "portraits" of Woman's Hospital, River Oaks Hospital and Raymond's Merchants and Planters Bank.

During Raymond's annual Pilgrimage of Homes, Susan has presented her work at the Dupree House, owned by Tad and Jessie Thrash. There she has made available her very popular note cards featuring Christmas scenes of Raymond and year-round cards which also include Raymond scenes and landscapes.

Susan and her husband Michael, also an artist and graphic arts teacher, have lived and raised their family in the Raymond area for about twenty-five years.
