Mt. Zion Church
Mt. Zion is the oldest black church in the town of Raymond. The congregation organized as early as 1871- reconstruction years. Later, in 1894, the church members saved enough money to purchase a small section of land near the center of town. For $45.00 they purchased just enough land to build a church. Previously, the black congregation had worshipped under trees and in private homes.

Today, Mt. Zion (known as New Mt Zion) is considered to be a landmark church in the Town of Raymond. The church on the present day site is not the original structure.
